Handmade in Eswatini in Southern Africa, these stylish and innovative earrings are made sustainably using pulp from recycled magazines.

They are created by Quazi design, which began as a social impact initiative in 2010.  Through collaboration with a group of local women artisans, their focus is sustainable design, ethical production, transparency and craftsmanship.

All of the women they employ are on permanent contracts. They have partnered with a local magazine distributor to collect waste paper, which is cut up and crafted by hand and dyed with pigment, then varnished for durability to create vibrant and lightweight beads which are mixed with brass to create bright, bold and contemporary earrings.

They say: 'We focus on developing new and innovative techniques using only waste paper and want to change the perception of recycled materials. We transform these waste magazines and newspapers into original designs, using our own simple yet pioneering techniques at our workshop. Our women make each product by hand, with basic tools and the sun’s rays.  As much as possible our materials are locally sourced and environmentally friendly.'
