Our first 'Introduction to Fused Glass' workshop in January kicked the new year off to a very colourful start, with complete beginners producing some beautiful pieces which I thought I would share with you.
This beautiful boat panel makes the most of some of the wonderful qualities of glass and will look gorgeous in a sunny window with the light shining through it.
This wall hanging makes use of some lovely warm colours and different types of glass for a stunning, sunny effect.
This panel is inspired by the Sussex coast and was fired to quite a cool temperature for a textured finish.
I was asked to show people how to make pieces with bubbles, which is done by sprinkling some bicarbonate of soda within two layers of glass and firing to a high temperature. The outcome can often be a disappointment, with the occasional bubble bursting, but these came out beautifully!
Each workshop introduces the techniques of cutting and layering glass and students are able to make up to four coasters and a panel. It is a great way to spend the day, getting completely absorbed in doing something creative.
Our next Introduction to Fused Glass Workshop with available space is on Sunday 13th March. You can book in the shop by calling us on 01273 697275, or via our website - the link is on the homepage.
