Our first Glass Workshop in Little Beach Boutique
We had our very first Introduction to Fused Glass Making workshop here at Little Beach Boutique yesterday, 12th April, and it was a great success! Five people completely new to glass making were keen to get creative and learn the principles of making their own glass pieces.
Suzanne guided students through the techniques of cutting glass and demonstrated how to layer their design with different types of glass to make their very own unique pieces ready for firing, using stringers, frit, dichroic glass and sheet glass in all sorts of beautiful colours.
People made several coasters each and after lunch on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon in Brighton, they got started on wall hangings and progressed onto making their own dishes.
We had some lovely comments after the course.
Thanks for doing such an interesting course, i can’t believe we made so many pieces and leant so much in a short space of time. I can’t wait to see the finishes work and maybe you might do another course so we can become a little better. Please find attached the Photo’s. I should have taken more but was too engrossed in the workshop.
Like to say thank you for a great day .
Really opened my eyes to a new medium to work with.
Hopefully I will get a chance to progress further .
Their beautiful glass creations are firing away in the kiln this week, and they will look gorgeous we're all looking forward to seeing the end results!
Our next workshop will be in the summer - do join our mailing list or call the shop if you are interested in taking part.
The next workshop downstairs will be "Learn to Make Fresh Organic Body and Hair Care Products" using every day groceries, on 25th April. It promises to be lots of fun and very "fruitful"!
Bye for now
